Thank you for the sensible critique. Me & my neighbor were just preparing to do some research about this. We got a grab a book from our local library but I think I learned more clear from this post. I’m very glad to see such fantastic info being shared freely out there.

Find mechanisms to further your support across the globe. There many children suffering outside Australia, especially in Uganda. I would be glad to hear that you have extended your services to such places. Thank you.

Hi Mary. We are not able to ascertain how much you are entitled to especially with the minimal information you have supplied to us as there are numerous factors that are needed to be calculated and taken into account to work out family assistance payments, however please feel free to see our links page where it has the relevant family assistance bodies where you will be able to find out how much family assistance payments you are entitled to (see: http://www.familyassistance.net.au/family-assistance-links/).

Hi Tobias,

Currently, the Family Assistance website is mainly geared towards Australian families with assistance of Australian Family Support bodies. By the sound of your email, you are located in Kenya and we are unaware of the best government bodies to assist you and your family for their situation. However, we’ll keep our ears open for any suggestions we may have from our readers.

The Family Assistance website team

admin November 18, 2011 at 3:09 am

Hi Natalie,
We cannot advise but we can suggest that you pop in to see your locale Centrelink Office (or even look them up online) to explain your situation to the Centrelink Office representative and then they should be able to assist you with your case or direct you to the best government department.

The Family Assistance website has listed the Centrelink Office locator here depending on which state you live in (http://www.familyassistance.net.au/centrelink-payments-centrelink-online/).

was wondering how long it takes for a phone call to be answered ? have been on hold for over 20 minutes . I know that with this wonderful workers party in control and is really looking after their employees and realise that you must all be on smoke break or RDO’s or leave of some kind, but it would be nice to comply with the requirements you have placed on me to keep you informed about changes in circumstances in my family life.
Have a lovely day

Danica March 18, 2012 at 10:52 pm

Hi, my father was made redundant last year and withdraw his super, but that has gone now and he wishes to get back into the workforce. He would like to study to become a traffic controller. The course costs $650. Will centerlink provide assistance to pay for him to do this course as he is unemployed and willing to go out and get work? Or can he start claiming the pension or assistance? He is 63 turning 64 this year (20/04/1948). He has worked his whole life and we are new to this assistance (if any). I appreciate your advice.

how do i ring the family assistance office to update my estimate can not find anywhere on this website a phone number and can not find the number listed in the phone book. could i also expect that i won’t recieve a reply for 3-5 working days? seriously people doing everything online is not convienent for everyone

admin April 2, 2012 at 6:26 am

Hi Stacey,

You should be able to ring the Family Assistance office on 13 6150* – Between 8am and 8pm (local time) Monday to Friday. In response to your blog entry, yes I agree that it can be hard(er) for those who are not “online” much or at all, however it does seem to suit the majority of the population although i do agree that there should always be other forms of information available to the public such as hard copy material which is also easily accessible.

Shashi April 10, 2012 at 6:46 am

Just want to know the centre link phone number so that I can inform them that I have found a job and thank them for the family assistance I was getting for about 5 months

A friend mentioned today that she received a letter to up date her sons information she had to do this before he turned 16 next week. I have a daughter turning 16 tomorrow and I did not receive a letter and was wondering if you sent out letters to all parents with children turning 16 and for some reason my letter didn’t arrive. We receive (FTB) in a lump sum at the end of the financial year.

admin May 16, 2012 at 3:09 am

Hi Danica,
Thank you for taking the time to write in to us. We cannot advise if Centrelink has an allowance, however we could only suggest to visit your local Centrelink office where you could find the application you are looking for or book a time to seen a Centrelink representative who will be able to assist with your request.

The Family Assistance Team

Hi Kathanha,
Thanks for writing in to us but sorry for the late reply, as we get more blog questions/comments than we can cope with, however we do try to reply to everyone (eventually). Anyway, in response to your blog comment, we are a bit unsure of what you are asking? Are you seeking child support payments, a divorce or refuge from an abusive husband (or “a man you know” as mentioned at the beginning of your blog comment)?

What are you asking for or wanting to find out? Once we know that, we might be able to steer you in the right direction….In the meanwhile, please feel free to head over to our chat FORUM and post any issues you might have, as some of our readers could also help you?

We hope to hear from you again soon.

Regards,
The Family Assistance Team

admin May 16, 2012 at 3:54 am

Hi Paul,
I am not sure if there any other sources of borrowing available for you. Since you are already receiving 2 forms of payments (disability support & parenting payments), maybe you could have a look at some area’s where you could cut some costs on, as an “example” ONLY: quit smoking or attempt to cut down as they are an expense that is not 100% crucial (should you be a smoker)…as we said, it’s only an example.

We only mentioned the example, as it sounds like your cost of living is greater than your income(s) and if you already own Centrelink $1,000 and further borrowing will only increase your debts, which you may have troubles repaying.

We hope you find this helpful.

Regards,
The Family Assistance Team
